My name is Schwarbu Eastwood Kamara, and I am a passionate filmmaker whose creative journey has been profoundly influenced by my ancestral heritage. The genesis of Eastwood Films Company Ltd is a tribute to the legacy of my father and his remarkable journey.

My father’s story begins in Wassadou, a remote enclave nestled in the Eastern part of Senegal. His adventurous spirit led him on a transformative odyssey, as he departed Senegal and sought refuge in Guinea. In Guinea, he made Kankan, situated in the Eastern region of the Republic of Guinea, his new home. Here, he joined the Guinean army, seeking a path to a better life.

However, the oppressive rule of Shekou Toure forced my father to flee once more, embarking on a journey that would bring him to Sierra Leone for the very first time. In Sierra Leone, he found solace and settled down in Kenema District, specifically within the Nongowah Chiefdom. This district, exclusively situated in the Eastern region of Sierra Leone, became the backdrop for the formative years of my life.

Throughout my journey from toddler to waddler, from baby to adult, I have been rooted in the Eastern part of Sierra Leone. This profound connection to the East, forged through my father’s lineage, has shaped my identity and my calling as a cinematographer.

Today, I proudly serve as the Chief Executive Officer of Eastwood Films Company Ltd, a name carefully chosen to honor and pay homage to my roots. Our mission extends beyond filmmaking; it is a commitment to giving back to my community and preserving the legacy of my father.

I come from an extended family, as my father married four wives, with my mother being the last among them. Predominantly, I grew up in a polygamous marital setting, which instilled in me the values of unity and resilience.

Another pivotal moment in my journey was my first encounter with a camera. In Segbewma, another Eastern region of Sierra Leone, I was granted the opportunity to take a picture under the supervision of a white man. This experience ignited my passion for filmmaking and set me on a course to fulfill my creative aspirations.

Regrettably, my father is no longer with us. Please join me in observing a minute of silence for this great hero in my life, who not only provided my initial education but also served as my greatest inspiration.
