I served as a lead trainer/facilitator for the Moving Beyond Film Project in Sierra Leone, organized by the Sierra Leone Adult Education Association (SLADEA). The project aimed to train both aspiring and established filmmakers in the intricacies of the craft.
The initiative commenced with a training of trainers program, designed to expand the pool of competent film instructors. Additionally, specialized training sessions focusing on camera operation, sound recording, and editing were conducted to empower women eager to acquire technical filmmaking skills.
Furthermore, two independent training sessions were held to educate a total of forty individuals interested in filmmaking. These sessions resulted in the production of four short films—two fictional and two documentary pieces.
The Moving Beyond Film Project is a collaborative effort involving SLADEA, WELTFILME-Germany, NAEAL-Liberia, YMCA-Ghana, CNA-Togo, and the University of The Gambia. The films created under this project shed light on pressing issues such as Climate Change, Education, and Drug Abuse.
